Author Showcase : Harriet Schultz

I'm going to slip slightly outside my comfort zone today - and land on the fringe of my specified genres for our Author Showcase. I don't typically do anything with romance - but am happy to share an author who blends it well with murder, suspense and intrigue and leaves you licking your lips for more.

If you haven't heard about Harriet Schultz yet, I'm sure it's just a matter of time. She's an award-winning journalist whose career began at TIME magazine and I'm going to highlight some snippets from her first novel today.

Harriet Schultz is a native New Yorker who has hopscotched between coasts, calling both San Francisco and New England home. Her journalism career began at TIME magazine where she was involved with its Watergate coverage. She also spent time as an assistant for Pulitzer Prize-winner David Halberstam's at Harper's Magazine. More recently, she covered local news for a Maine newspaper and was honored with an award from the New England Press Association.

Travel is a passion and her wanderings have taken her from Tierra del Fuego to north of the Arctic Circle. Three visits to Scotland inspired both a love of that country and her first novel, entitled....

Legacy of the Highlands

What does a vow made 700 years ago in Scotland have to do with a murder in twenty-first century Boston?
When Will Cameron’s body is discovered in a Boston alley, the only clue to the thirty-four-year-old man’s murder is a pristine Scottish sgian dubh dagger left beside it. His devastated widow, Alexandra, flees Boston to find refuge in the Miami villa of Will’s best friend, Diego Navarro, who has the means, power and temperament to solve the puzzle and to avenge the senseless killing.

Diego, a handsome and wealthy Argentine, is equally determined to win the grieving widow’s heart. The growing attraction to each other becomes hard to resist as Alex and Diego follow leads that take them from Miami to Buenos Aires and Scotland, unraveling the Cameron family’s secrets and the Legacy of the Highlands.

A page turner? Absolutely! And you don't have to just take my word for it. Harriet has already racked up a boatload of reviews on AMAZON

In particular, our friends over at It's Raining Books had some nice things to say - check it out and then get your hands on Harriet's novel.
